New Logo & Athletic Branding For Eagles

Introducing the New Emmaus Eagle

DUBUQUE, IA – Emmaus Bible College is excited to unveil a distinctly new Emmaus Eagle logo to coincide with the launch of the 2021-22 academic year.

The new "Emmaus Eagle" and wordmarks mark the culmination of an effort to integrate the college's athletic logos with the overall branding of Emmaus Bible College's institutional marks.  The new logos depict an Eagle that uniquely represents the spirit and values of the Emmaus family. The Process

In partnership with Drew Elrick Design, a committee of stakeholders representing Emmaus administration, faculty, staff, current student-athletes, and alumni met in January 2021, with the goal crafting a visual identity that captured the past and future ethos of Emmaus Bible College Athletics.

The Logo Committee provided Elrick a set of descriptive phrases including: Humble, Noble, Regal, Intelligent, Brave, High-quality, Servant leaders, and Making an Impact, with which to work and then provided feedback on several rounds of drafting. By earlier summer, a full logo system had been crafted.

  • Versatile logo and wordmark, capable of application across uniforms/apparel, digital graphics, and throughout campus facility environments
  • Color scheme to match the Emmaus intuitional colors
  • A specifically designated athletic font family

"We are thrilled to introduce the new "Emmaus Eagle" to our community!  The 'Eagle' nickname is so prominent among colleges, and even more so among Christian colleges and high school.  And so, we are grateful that Drew has crafted a distinguished logo that enables us to say, 'This is our Emmaus Eagle!'"

The Reveal

August 19, 2021 marks the official launch of the new brand with updates to the athletic website www.EmmausAthletics.com, social media channels, and a web release story to unveil the elements that will begin to appear on campus apparel, uniforms, and promotional products.

Emmaus' new primary athletic marks include the following elements and uses:

Eagle head with shield-shaped neckline: The Emmaus Eagle was given a tapered neckline, so as to function inside or outside of the institutional shield.

Emmaus Athletics will primarily be represented with the "Emmaus Eagle" head outside of the shield.  The eagle's neckline is one of the defining features that provides a connection back to the institutional logo.

"Emmaus Eagles" wordmark: The Emmaus Eagles wordmark is represented by the "VTF Redzone" and "VTF Redzone Italic" typography.

The serifs and edging of the font depict the forward moment of the college and its athletic programs.  The serifs on the "EBC" wordmark provide both a balance and "winged" element to the graphic.

Fall 2021 Rollout & Beyond

Fans, friends and parents of the Eagles can immediately find freshly branded apparel in the Campus Store at the Dubuque campus, as well as in our online campus store.

During Fall 2021, Emmaus Athletics will incorporate the new logo on the uniforms for our inaugural Men's and Women's Cross Country season.  Additionally, our Women's Basketball program will have a fresh look and updated uniforms when they take the court in 2021-22.

Subsequently, over the upcoming years, uniforms, equipment and environment features of the campus athletic facilities will be update to reflect the new branding.

History

The new athletic logos now replace the previous left-facing Eagle head and wordmarks that were adopted in 2009.  The 2009 logo currently adorns center court of the Pollard Fieldhouse wood floor, which was installed in 2011.

A previous full-bodied, wings-extended Emmaus Eagle was used prior to 2009.  This logo is currently featured on the scorer's table and wall padding of Pollard Fieldhouse, which opened in 1994.

Emmaus Bible College adopted the Eagles nickname in the 1950s during the early years of the men's basketball program.  The nickname continues to reflect the values of both the college and the region, as an observable and active bald eagle population is present today in Dubuque and the surrounding Mississippi River region.
