Eagles Lose a Cliff Hanger to Dayspring

Seeking their third win in a row, the Eagles traveled Monday night (1-23) to Chicagoland to battle Dayspring for the rubber match as the two teams had split earlier in the year.  Unfortunately for the Eagles, they came up one point short, 83-82.

The first half saw 7 lead changes and the largest lead the Eagles could get over Dayspring was 5 points.  At the half, the Eagles held a slim 3 point advantage, 40-37.  The Eagles were led by guard Steven Horan who had and 13 points and 3 steals and by Nathaniel Glidewell who scored 10 points.  Glidewell was back in the starting lineup after missing some games with an injury.

The second half began to get away from the Eagles as Dayspring not only scored at a high percentage also grabbed more rebounds than the Eagles.  At one point, Dayspring built a 13 point lead.  It was time for another comeback but could the Eagles do it?

Just like against Bayclay and Ozark, the Eagles began to chip away at the lead.  The problem was, time kept going off the clock too.  The Eagles got the ball to Horan with time running out, the Eagles down by one.  Instead of shooting his trademark jumpshot, Horan decided to drive to the goal.  Three……..two……one…….Horan got the left handed layup out of his hands and off the glass.  The ball bounced around the rim……the horn went off……the ball somehow fell out.  The game was over and Dayspring had prevailed 83-82.  Exciting finish again but just a tad short.

The Eagles take to the floor next this Friday at home against St. Louis (@ 7:00) and CCCB on Saturday (@ 3:00).  Go Eagles.
