Emmaus Shows Improvement, Still Searching for Success

The Emmaus Eagles made the long trek down to Missouri over the weekend for a set of Conference games against Ozark Christian College and Calvary University.

Friday's game against Ozark started slowly for the Eagles as early shots refused to fall. The men were able to turn things around before falling too far behind however, by finding hot shooters and getting the ball into the powerful posts. The leading scorer of the night was Sophomore guard Austin Brammer, whose 21 points all came from behind the arc on 7-12 shooting in his first career start for Emmaus. The Eagles kept the score around 10 the entire game and came as close as 6 within the last few minutes. However, they were not able to complete a comeback and lost by the final score of 89-78. Notable stats include Stevie Horan notching a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists, while giving great defensive effort at the same time. Coach Edmondson had to say after the game "I was really pleased with our effort and the fight our guys showed in this game, but we just made too many key turnovers to get over the hump and get the win."

Saturday dawned a new day as Emmaus went up against Calvary, a team they split wins with the previous season. Our men jumped to a quick 8-3 lead, but hot shooting early on from Calvary quickly turned the score in the favor of the Warriors. Emmaus was once again able to keep the game close, only heading into the locker room down 11 at the half. Things did not go as planned in the second half between poor shooting, key players on the bench due to fouls and injuries, and an electric energy coming from the home crowd, which all carried the Warriors to a 93-64 victory over the Eagles. Coach Edmondson added after Saturday's game "Our guys gave good effort, but it definitely wasn't our day. We'll get back to work on Monday to get ready for Maranatha on Tuesday."

following the weekend, Emmaus falls to 0-18 overall and 0-4 in Conference play.
