Emmaus Wins Battle of The Eagles

Emmaus Wins Battle of The Eagles

Our Men's basketball team traveled to Ankeny on Tuesday for a matchup against MCCC Conference rivals, Faith Baptist Bible College. The Eagles clashed last semester with Faith coming out on top by just 4 points, so Emmaus knew this would be a game they had to fight every minute.

The game started off in a similar trend to the previous games this semester, with Emmaus shooting poorly from the field. The score stayed very close the entire first half, as both teams were determined to gain the halftime advantage. A 3 pointer by Stevie Horan put Emmaus up by 1 just five minutes into the game, and they were able to hold the lead for the rest of the half.

The second half was any team's game, as Emmaus came out of the locker room only up by one point (38-37). Faith kept the game close, but eventually things started to click for Emmaus, and they were able to secure the 80-67 win.

Game highs came from Austin Brammer and Horan, who combined for 61 of the 80 team points. Horan with 27 points and 8 rebounds, and Brammer with 34 points and 5 assists. Both shot 50% from behind the arc. Coach Edmondson had high praise for the men who had to step up and adjust to Faith's defensive game: "Boy did our guards come through.  Austin Brammer was fantastic and Stevie Horan has really found his shooting groove in the last two games.  Nacio Dillard did a good job running our offense and playing tough defense."

He is very proud of the team as a whole and shared some thoughts: "With this win we have put ourselves in position to get the #4 seed in the tournament with a win at home on Saturday.  Despite the struggles this team has had they have continued to fight and improve and we still have a chance to accomplish a lot as we go down the stretch."

The Eagles are now 2-20 overall and 1-4 in conference, heading into their final regular season game againt CCCB on Saturday.
