Eagles Fall to Thunder

Eagles Fall to Thunder

The Eagles are in Kansas City this weekend for the Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament hosted by Calvary University. The first-round matchup for #6 seed Emmaus was against #3 Manhattan Christian College.

The Eagles got on the board first with a layup from Stevie Horan, and stuck with the Thunder for most of the first half. The teams traded scores until just over three minutes left in the first half when the Eagles only trailed by 3 (30-27). The final three minutes saw Manhattan go on a 14-4 run which put them up 44-31 at the half.

The Thunder jumped out to a quick start in the second half and built up a lead that never fell below 10 points for the rest of the game. Emmaus was able to bring the score to an 11 point deficit with just 7 minutes left, but they were not able to capitalize on it.

The final buzzer saw Manhattan walk away with a 74-56 win as Emmaus only shot 33% from the field and had 21 turnovers. Leaders for Emmaus were Horan with 19 points, Austin Brammer with 14 points, and Elijah Reeves with 13 Rebounds.

Coach Edmondson shared his thoughts after the first round loss: "I thought our guys played hard, but we didn't play well. We had way too many turnovers. Defensively we did what we wanted and kept them in the 70's, but we just didn't execute well enough on offense to really give ourselves a chance against a team as good as Manhattan."

The Eagles fall to 2-22 on the season after tonight's game. They will play Faith tomorrow at 11 AM for a chance to make it into the Consolation game.
