Emmaus Soars With a Tournament Win

Emmaus Soars With a Tournament Win

Coming off of a loss to Manhattan in the first round of the MCCC Tournament the previous day, Emmaus needed a win if they wanted a third game. Win is exactly what the did against Faith on Friday to send them into a Saturday morning chance at another victory.

The men came out of the gates with great energy and jumped ahead in the first half. Nacio Dillard and Stevie Horan scored 24 of the first 26 points for Emmaus which sent the teams into halftime with Emmaus leading by 13 points.

The second half saw both teams come out hungry for a win and not wanting to go home. Faith worked to fight back into the game, but this half brought another offensive onslaught to give Emmaus enough momentum to finish out the game. Elijah Reeves and Dillard were the hot shooters in the second half, combining for 23 of 31 second half points for the team. Emmaus walked out at the end of the day with a 76-67 win over Faith.

The team recorded 25 assists shooting 60% from the field and 50% from 3. Dillard led the team with 22 points, 8 assists and 4 steals, followed by Reeves with 18 points, and Horan with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists.

Coach Edmondson shared after the game: "I was really proud of the focus and intensity that our guys came out with today. Nacio was outstanding today, just a tremendous overall performance at the point guard position. Stevie had a great start shooting and did a great job distributing the ball and rebounding as well. Chunk was huge today knocking down shot after shot from the short corner against the zone defense Faith threw at us. It was a great defensive effort from the entire team and a solid rebounding effort too!"

The Eagles are now 3-22 overall. they are excited to play Barclay in the Consolation game tomorrow at 10 AM
