Lady Eagles Fight Hard but Fall to Grace Bible in Second Game

The Emmaus Lady Eagles took the court against the Grace Bible College Tigers for the second time last week on Saturday January 9. This game, like the one previously, was a battle. The Lady Eagles were within a few points the whole first and second quarter. At half time the Lady Eagles went into the locker room all tied up at thirty one.

In the third quarter the Lady Eagles started playing better team basketball and shot nearly 53% from the field. The sharp shooting Eagles even extended their lead to ten points within the third quarter. The Grace Tigers did not give up and kept fighting and closed the third quarter only down six points.
The Emmaus Lady Eagle's strong third quarter carried over into the fourth quarter. They extended their lead to eleven with five minutes to play but the Grace Tigers climbed back into the game and with a minute to go led by two points. The Eagles final three offensive possessions resulted in good open shots, but unfortunately no points.
"What I am excited about is that we proved that the first game wasn't a fluke; we can play with the high-end teams. Our offense did not look very good in this game and we will need to improve our spacing, movement, and shot selection. We have a long way to go and we need to get better, but I believe the girls understand this. Going into this game I think we were just satisfied with 5 wins on our record including a big win over a ranked team, most likely because it hasn't happened at Emmaus in a long time. But realistically, this team is capable of much bigger things. We have the tools to win a National Championship if the girls decide to dream bigger and bring consistent effort and selflessness to every single game. When we mature to the point of bringing consistent team discipline and effort every single day in practice and in games, the Emmaus Women's Basketball team will shock the world." -Coach Graw
The Grace Tigers scored a few more points in the final seconds leading to the Tigers' six point win. A disappointing loss for the Lady Eagles, but one that will no doubt help mature coach Graw's young team. Madison Laib led with 28 points and 9 rebounds followed by Shelby Hembera with 21 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 assists.
