Lady Eagles Make History Defeating Moody Bible

On Tuesday, January 19, the Lady Eagles traveled to play the Moody Bible Institute Archers. From the tip off, the Lady Eagles came out red hot led by freshman Shelby Hembera. Hembera scored the Lady Eagle's first 10 points of the game. The Lady Eagle's sharp defense and efficient offense led to a large lead, leaving the Moody Archers scoreless at the end of the first quarter.

The Archers tried to slow down the Lady Eagles in the second quarter, but could not find a way. In the fourth quarter, the Moody Archers tried to mount a comeback. However, the Lady Eagles finished strong winning 60 to 39.

"While beating Moody is a huge deal for our program, it was the fellowship with them that was the most satisfying. They truly have young ladies who love the Lord. To pray with them after the game in unity as believers in Jesus is something special. Compete, unite, then go out and impact the world for Jesus," said Coach Graw.

Emmaus and Moody have a unique history that dates back to when both schools were located in Chicago years ago. They were once cross-town rivals before Emmaus moved to Dubuque (IA). The Emmaus win tonight marks the first time in 20 years that Emmaus has beaten Moody on their home court! The Lady Eagles were thrilled to be apart of breaking that cycle, as well as improving to 9-4 for the season.

Shelby Hembera led with 23 points and 9 rebounds followed by Madison Laib's 17 points and 6 rebounds. The Lady Eagles will face Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri this Friday.
