Winning Streak Continues as Lady Eagles Beat UW-Richland

On Monday, January 25 the Lady Eagles took on the UW-Richland Roadrunners. The first quarter proved to be very competitive. Both the Lady Eagles and Roadrunners were going to their post players early and having success. The Eagles only led 4 points at the end of the quarter.

The second quarter saw an explosion by the Lady Eagles putting up 26 points and holding their opponent scoreless for the final two minutes of the half. The Lady Eagles' help defense looked very good and caused multiple turnovers during the course of the game.
The Lady Eagles continued to play in rhythm in the third quarter and started to get into a grove both offensively and defensively. The UW-Richland Roadrunners tried to make a fourth quarter rally, but only came within 13 points of the Eagles. A big story for the Lady Eagles was their bench play coming in and playing over 65 minutes and scoring 13 points. The Eagles finished on top 83 to 66.
Sophomore guard Madison Laib was the Lady Eagles leading scorer with 33 points and Freshman Shelby Hembera added another 19 points (7/7 FG, 5/5 FT) in just 16 minutes of playing time. Guards Nakiah Kimble and Marissa Kerttula combined for 11 assists and 10 rebounds. Coach Graw said, "I am very proud of our girls. We showed a lot of maturity by being patient within the offense and moving the ball. Our goal is to function as one body with many members as the body of Christ. My hope is that we can continue to 'Consider others more important than ourselves' as we play basketball the way Naismith intended it to be, which was to resemble the body of Christ and further the kingdom. I believe we did that tonight."
This is the Lady Eagles fifth straight win as they improve to 11-4.
