Lady Eagles Beat Moody Bible Once Again
On Thursday, January 28, the Emmaus Lady Eagles took on the Moody Bible Institute Archers. This game is the second meeting between these two opponents this season, but this time it was on the home court. In the first quarter the Archers came to play and competed back and forth with the Lady Eagles. The game was tied at the end of the first quarter, but Emmaus would rally.
The second quarter proved to be the Lady Eagles best quarter of the game putting up 17 points and holding the Archers to only 5 points. For the game, Emmaus helped force 18 turnovers and register 11 steals. The Lady Eagles defense was a huge asset to the second quarter and the remainder of the game. At halftime the Eagles led 30 to 18.
The third quarter was a similar battle between the Archers and the Lady Eagles. Archers Forwards Olivia Hunter (15 points) and Kaylene Obinger (10 points) helped keep the game close and competitive throughout. Emmaus struggled to get into a rhythm for the game offensively, but ultimately was to still able to do enough to defeat Moody 59 to 43.
The Eagles' bench added 16 points and key minutes helping give the starters a break as the Eagles had two more games the following week. Shelby Hembera (14 points) and Rachel West (12 points) helped lead the Eagles in scoring, and were instrumental on the defensive end with their post defense and rebounding.
