Lady Eagles Refuse to Fall Prey to Sabercats

On Friday, January 29, the Maranatha Baptist Sabercats came to Dubuque to take on the Lady Eagles. Emmaus started strong in the first quarter shooting over 50% from the field. The Sabercats kept fighting and were only down by 8 points going into halftime.

The third quarter was very competitive and saw the Lady Eagles shoot well behind the three point line. The Sabercats were great on the boards in the third quarter and out-rebounded the Lady Eagles. The fourth quarter continued to be a battle. The Lady Eagles were clearly tired and struggled to put the Sabercats away and as a result the Sabercats made a late fourth quarter run pulling within four points in the final minute of the game. The Lady Eagles free throw shooting helped the Eagles put the game away winning 76 to 70.
The Lady Eagles were led by Shelby Hembra (21 points and 22 rebounds), Madison Laib (17 points and 8 rebounds), and Nakiah Kimble (12 points and 4 steals). The Eagles bench scoring was lead by Erin Edmondson and her 9 points. The Eagles finished the game shooting 16-18 from the free throw line, ultimately helping them edge the tenacious Sabercats.
