Lady Eagles Soar with Win Over Faith Baptist

Lady Eagles Soar with Win Over Faith Baptist

It was a chilly Monday night as the Lady Eagles hosted the Faith Baptist Eagles. The Eagles came off running and scored 21 points in the first quarter. Guard Nakiah Kimble and Forward Shelby Hembera helped lead the first quarter surge.

The second quarter saw the Eagles momentum stall out. The Lady Eagles struggled to put the ball in the basket and shot only 30% from the field. The Faith Baptist Eagles defense helped stagger the Emmaus offense. Emmaus led 33 to 17 at halftime despite their poor second quarter.

The Eagles came out of the locker room ready to play defense and held the Faith Baptist Eagles to only 5 points and forcing 5 turnovers in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles were able to continue their defensive momentum and put the game out of reach for Faith winning 59 to 33.

The story of the game was the Lady Eagles defense. The Eagles registered 17 steals and 7 blocks. Despite playing well on defense, the Eagles lost the rebound battle allowing Faith to get 13 offensive rebounds. The Eagles were led by Shelby Hembera (20 points and 6 rebounds) and Madison Laib (15 points and 5 steals). The Eagles bench was led by Erin Edmondson with 7 points and 2 steals. The Eagles win once again extending their winning streak to 11 games and will host Central Christian College of the Bible Friday night at 5:30pm.
