Conference Champs Again!

Conference Champs Again!

Saturday afternoon, the Lady Eagles once again battled Calvary on their home turf in arguably the most challenging environment the Conference has to offer. Both teams brought their A-game and came out swinging in a competition that would remain close for 3 quarters.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 15-4 lead by the end of the first quarter, but in the next ten minutes the Warriors put together a barrage that rattled Emmaus' offensive game. The teams went into halftime with our Ladies leading by just three points, 27-24.

The third quarter stayed tight as well as th Lady Eagles did not add any points to the board until close to the 5-minute mark. From there, they were able to gain some separation and began the final ten minutes up by 9 points.

Emmaus used the final quarter to pull away and ensure victory as they went on to outscore the Warriors 25-15 (Emmaus' highest scoring quarter that day).

High performances came from Tiffany Williams, who lead all scorers with 27 points, followed by Kia Gelinas with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Ladies held Calvary to 26% shooting from the field and 0% from behind the arc in an outstanding defensive showcase.

Coach Graw reflected on the game: "I'm just so proud of these girls. Calvary's fans came out in full 6th man support the entire game. This was probably the toughest environment I've experienced in my 6 years in regards to the noise and support towards The home team. You could feel the noise in your chest the entire game, and while it was tough, win or lose, it was so much fun to be part of a game like that. We were able to battle through foul trouble and shooting woes, especially when we decided to slow down and be patient on the offensive end. I'm so thankful for these girls and excited they could experience a conference championship."

Emmaus is now 10-13 overall and remain undefeated and #1 in the MCCC. They look to continue their success this weekend at home for Regionals.
