Lady Eagles Soar to 5-0 in MCCC, 9-3 at Home in 2019-20

The Lady Eagles improved to 5-0 in conference play, and finished their 2019-20 home schedule with a 9-3 record on the Pollard Fieldhouse home court, securing a 90-48 victory over Faith Baptist (4-13) on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Hitting the court for the first time in a week, Emmaus raced out to a commanding 25-6 lead in the first quarter.  After securing a 39-26 advantage at halftime, the Lady Eagles raced out of the locker room again, to grab the third quarter by a 25-8 margin.

Kristin Morry led all scorers on the day with 21 points on 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.  Kia Gelinas chipped in 18 points, and Tiffany Williams pushed the edge of triple-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 steals. With all 9 Emmaus players scoring, and 5 netting in double-figures, the Lady Eagles' depth and versatility on the offensive end continues to be a strength for this year's team.

"As we near the end of the season, we are trying to stay focused on the goal, but also enjoy each chance we have left to play the game. Every chance we have to play is a gift, and we can enjoy it – together - whether we are up by 30, up by 3, or down by 10. Every game is an opportunity to get better, both in how we play the game and how we relate to one another," said head coach Heather Cunard.

"And I continue to see constant improvement in both of those areas, which is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. We are playing better team basketball every day, and I feel good about where we are as we look ahead to our conference tournament, regional tournament, and a shot at nationals."

The Lady Eagles now hit the road to finish the regular season.  Emmaus travel to Moberly, MO on Saturday, Feb. 8 to take on the CCCB Saints, and then to Manhattan, KS for back-to-back games with Manhattan College Christian and Barclay College on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15.
