Emmaus Captures Conference Win

DUBUQUE, IA – The Lady Eagles found their groove early, as they won their first MCCC match at home against Central Christian (Moberly, MO).

The Lady Eagles sent their newly configured rotation to the floor, as starting middle blocker Chelsea Smith is still out of the lineup with a lower body injury.  Emmaus was able to control the tempo of the match, making great adjustments to counter Central's play.  The Lady Eagles took early leads in each set, earning their first three set victory of the season (25-15, 25-18, 25-19).

"We purposed before the match that we would work on ball control, error reduction, and enthusiasm and I am pleased to say that the ladies did a fantastic job overall today," said Coach Pitman.  "Coach Ruter and I have been so happy with every player's effort, especially facing reconfigurations in the lineup.  We are playing with confidence and that is fun to watch."

Emmaus hit .130 for the match, with 16 service aces and only 3 service errors.  With the win, the Lady Eagles improve to 5-4 on the season (1-1 MCCC).

Emmaus returns to action on the road this Tuesday (9/29), as they travel to Ankeny to face Faith Baptist in what should be a challenging conference match.  Game time is 6:00 pm.  Visit www.facebook.com/EmmausAthletics for live stream info.
