Lady Eagles Fall to Manhattan Christian

Manhattan, KS – After a long day on the road, the Lady Eagles faced off against the nationally ranked (#4) Lady Thunder of Manhattan Christian College.

In the first set, the Lady Eagles played some consistent ball and forced Manhattan to make adjustments.  The Lady Thunder struggled with receptions. The set was neck and neck until Manhattan pulled away with a close 25-27 victory.

Emmaus was able to find better ball control and worked the spread offense to take set number two with a 25-19 score.  However, Manhattan grabbed a huge momentum swing in set three and dominated the front row, winning the set 6-25.  In set four, the Lady Thunder kept rolling, and although the Lady Eagles showed flashes of good play, Manhattan closed out the match with a 13-25 victory.  The match ended with Emmaus taking a 1-3 loss.

"The ladies on our team should hold their heads high after this match," said Coach Pitman.  "Manhattan is ranked #4 in the nation for a reason, and they are the toughest opponent we have seen all season.  They are a much stronger team than us, and were able to dominate when they turned up their game.  We should be very proud of our efforts to play them tightly in set one and to take a win in set two.  I was particularly impressed with our ladies' testimony and composure in a tough environment and want to give special recognition to Coach Brown and the Emmaus soccer team for consistently being our best supporters. "

Alli Howard led the Emmaus attack with 12 kills, and Elizabeth Brame contributed 6.

The Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow morning as they face MCCC opponent Barclay College in an important seeding match.  Game time is 11:00 am.
