Emmaus Sweeps on Senior Night

DUBUQUE, IA – The Lady Eagles ended their three week home stand with a 3-0 victory against the Mt. Mary Blue Angels (Milwaukee, WI).

 

All players on the roster contributed to the win, as Emmaus continued to work on ball control, hitting .330 compared to Mt. Mary's -.122.  "It was important for us to play a hard match tonight and control the elements that we have been working on," commented Coach Pitman.

 

 

Before the match Emmaus honored their two seniors, Vivienne Yates and Elizabeth Brame.  Defensive specialist Yates has 91 career aces and 628 digs.  Middle blocker Brame has 379 kills, 35 solo blocks, and 148 assisted blocks in her career.  "We have been blessed by these ladies the for the past four years at Emmaus and it has been amazing to see how much they have grown as volleyball players during that time," said Coach Pitman.  "We will miss them greatly next season!"

 

Notable efforts for the evening included Kendra Gordon with 4 kills and a .571 hitting percentage in set three.  Elizabeth Brame hit .429 with 3 kills, and Vivienne Yates contributed 5 digs.

 

Emmaus improves to 15-1 on the season, and has a rare Saturday off tomorrow.  The Lady Eagles will spend next week preparing for a tough road trip next weekend.  Friday Emmaus takes on NJCAA opponent Western Technical College in La Crosse, WI.  On Saturday the Lady Eagles will have a tri-match in Minneapolis, as the face NCAA DIII opponent Macalester College (St. Paul, MN), followed by an NCCAA regional match against North Central University (Minneapolis, MN).
