Lady Eagles Wrap up MCCC Regular Season Play with Victory

ANKENY, IA – The Emmaus volleyball team returned from their second trip to Ankeny in three days with a victory to wrap up Midwest Christian College Conference play.  With the win, the Lady Eagles secured the number one seed for the conference tournament at the end of the month.

Both teams played hard in each set, and though the score was tight in the early going of sets one and two, Emmaus was able to make strong offensive and serving runs to close out the match 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-13).  The Lady Eagles pounded 40 kills for the night while hitting .248 as a team.

"Once again, I appreciated our efforts to make improvements in our play tonight," commented Coach Pitman.  "We had good responses to any struggles we had, and were able to zero in on some defensive areas that have been focus points.  We also are expanding our offensive repertoire, which is exciting to see even if we aren't executing everything efficiently yet.  Most of all, I loved our ladies' spirit of unity.  The journey through the season is a hard one, regardless of the scoreboard results, and we are constantly reminding ourselves of our goals and who we are playing for.  It is a privilege to coach this group of young women."

The Lady Eagles are home this weekend, playing host to NCAA DIII opponent Mount Mary University on Friday evening, and taking on Western Technical College (NJCAA DIII) on Saturday.  Match times are 6:00 pm and 11:00 am in the Pollard Fieldhouse.
