Reflections from Nationals - Day 3

Reflections from Nationals - Day 3

by Kendra Gordon (Junior), Lynda Davis (Sophomore), Halle Postma (Freshman)

Our morning started off with practice at Bob Jones University, and we used this time to get familiar on the court that we will be playing on tomorrow. After practice we went to a delicious southern barbecue place called Little Pig's. We had pulled pork sandwiches with mac n' cheese, baked beans, apple slices, and of course sweet tea!  After lunch we had the opportunity to volunteer at the Red Cross, where we
made Christmas cards and posters for the veterans and our service men and women. We also had the privilege to fellowship with the Johnson University volleyball team. Later that evening we got all dressed up for our banquet with the rest of the teams that are competing in the National Tournament. There we heard from Judy Fox, who serves as Chaplain for the NCCAA. She reminded us of the importance of putting Jesus before volleyball; that our accomplishments will fade but Jesus will remain. Still, she told us that this is not to take away from our successes throughout the year, and a few on our team were recognized tonight.

Hannah Postma, Savannah Peterson, and Alli Hertz were awarded scholar athletes; Paige Sweeney and Hannah Postma were awarded 1st Team All-American; Hannah Postma was also awarded National Player of the Year, and Coach Pitman was awarded National Coach of the Year. We ended the night with a time of fellowship and worship with the other teams. We all can't wait for the games to begin tomorrow!
