WHITING, IN – The Lady Eagles finished a busy week going 1-2 against some strong opponents in three straight nights of volleyball action.

On Thursday, Emmaus re-matched with NJCAA DIII opponent Western Tech at home, but the score tipped in the Lady Cavaliers' favor this time.  After a close first set (25-23), Western's strong attack and defense helped them earn the next three by scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-21.

Friday saw the Lady Eagles head to Chicagoland for matchups with Oakton Community (NJCAA DII) and Calumet (NAIA).  Emmaus played some tough ball against Oakton, but were overpowered at the net, and fell 1-3 (25-18, 22-25, 16-25, 20-25).  On Saturday, the Lady Eagles were successful in defeating Calumet in a thrilling back-and-forth battle 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23).

"Our play got progressively better throughout this week, which was great to see," commented Coach Pitman.  "As we start to turn our sights to the post-season, we know we have a lot to work on!  But we are thankful that we had great opportunity to go through some tough spots, and hope that those experiences will make our team stronger in the end."

Emmaus continues to grind through their intentionally tough end to the regular season this week with three matches.  Tomorrow the Lady Eagles will rematch with NJCAA DII opponent Ellsworth Community College, who handed Emmaus a 0-3 loss in their last meeting.  Emmaus then travels to Elgin Community College (NJCAA DII) on Thursday, and finishes up by hosting defending the NCCAA North Region champions, Maranatha Baptist University, on Saturday for their last home game of the season.  As always, visit the Emmaus Volleyball Website or the Emmaus Athletics Facebook page for match times, live stream info, and updates.
