Lady Eagles Prepare for Postseason

DUBUQUE, IA – Emmaus took a tough 0-3 loss against a dominant Maranatha squad on Saturday to end regular season play.

The Sabercats, currently ranked #3 in the National Coaches' Poll and #2 in the NCCAA Power Ratings, started the afternoon off with a tough serving run and never looked back as they extended their win streak to 7 in a row (and 17 of their last 18).  Emmaus finishes regular season play with a record of 11-10.

Despite the loss on the day, Coach Pitman had nothing but positive things to reflect on as the team closes out their regular season.  "In August Coach Richter and I did not project we would have an 11 win season!  The amount of growth this team has experienced has defied our expectations, and much credit is due to the hard work put in by every single player.  It hasn't been easy, and I am very proud of the way this team has fought through every match whether we have won or lost."

The Lady Eagles now prepare for the first of two postseason events.  This Wednesday, Emmaus will begin the almost 700 mile road trip to Haviland, KS for the Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament, where they will be the #2 seed.  The Lady Eagles will face the winner of the Faith/Calvary match on Friday.  "We are excited for a chance to compete in this tournament," continued Coach Pitman.  "This is the tightest the conference has been in recent years, and I believe that regardless of seeding any team that is participating has a chance to win it all.  We hope to bring our best play against some quality competition, and that is all we can ask of our team!"

As always, you can follow the team's progress on the Emmaus Volleyball Website or the Emmaus Athletics Facebook page.
