Emmaus Gains First Win Against Dayspring

After two defeats in their first two games, the Emmaus men were eager to get into the win column against the Dayspring Eagles in the Pollard Field House. When the final horn sounded, Emmaus had their first win of the season, 100-95.

From the beginning of the game, the Eagle's Steven Horan had the hot hand, especially from three-point range. Horan was consistent and reliable throughout the contest and finished the game with seven three-pointers and 34 points. But Horan wasn't by himself as Nathaniel Glidewell was all over the court with his defense and hustle to go along with 20 points and 8 rebounds. The Eagles led at the half 49-44 against the Dayspring Eagles.

As the second half lead began to grow to around 20 points, it looked as if Emmaus would have an uneventful finish. However, it was not to be. Jaime Dearyan used his quickness to penetrate the lane and was able to make layups and his free-throws to help Dayspring battle back. Dearyan would finish with 31 points.

The lead continued to shrink but the Eagles were able to hold on at the end for the final score of 100-95. Caleb Postma added 14 points for Emmaus while Cody Cunard had 3 blocks. Congragelations to the whole team for their victory.

The next games for Emmaus are this weekend in North Dakota as the Eagles battle Mayville State University.
