Eagles Gain Third Win of the Season

The Emmaus Men earned their third win of the season Friday night, December 2, 2016 as they defeated the Providence University College Pilots  by a score of 105-87, the highest scoring total for the men this season.

The Pilots were coming off of a fast paced game on Thursday evening while the Eagles were rested from not having an opening on Thursday.   In the first half, the Eagles had to deal with the speed of the quick Pilot guards and were able to pick up the lead going into the break, up seven.  The three point shots of the Eagles were finding their mark as the men shot 6-11 (54.5%).   Matthew Tomlinson led the Eagles with 11 points at halftime and Steven Horan added 10 points and Cody Cunard chipped in 8.  The Eagles also enjoyed a sizeable rebounding advantage by doubling the total of the Pilots, 30-15.  Elijah Reeves and Nathaniel Glidewell gathered 8 rebounds apiece and the Eagles were also able to gather up 14 offensive rebounds.

The second half saw the Eagles hit 5 more three pointers and continue to dominate on the boards, gaining 26 missed shots to the Pilots 15 rebounds.   Horan led the second half charge with 14 points and Caleb Postma scored 8 more.  For the game, Emmaus had 6 players in double figures:   Horan (24), Tomlinson and Cunard (14 each), Reeves and Postma (12 each) and Glidewell (11).   Reeves and Glidewell tallied 13 and 11 rebounds respectively and the Eagles easily won the rebounding battle 61-33.

It was a good win for the Eagles and they hoped to win again the next night against the Kansas Christian College team.
