Eagles Lose a Heart Breaker

Eagles Lose a Heart Breaker

Like all games, you never know who will win until its all over.  Kansas Christian had rallied from a large deficit on Friday night to defeat Faith Baptist with 0.3 seconds left on  the clock by knocking down two free throws.  Little did anyone know that the very next game Kansas Christian played would be another game to the wire and this time against the Emmaus Eagles.

The Eagles were wary of the fast players Kansas Christian possessed and chose to play defense in a zone to better give themselves a chance to win the game and it almost worked.  The Eagles were only down 35-31 at the break and were in the game despite only hitting 2 three pointers and coughing up 14 turnovers.  One reason why they were hanging around was due to the fact the Kansas Christian also committed 14 turnovers and the Eagles were rebounding with them, only down 18-15 in that department.  Elijah Reeves had 10 points and 5 rebounds for the Eagles.

In the second half, the Eagles fought back.  Nathaniel Glidewell led the second half charge with 14 points and 5 boards and Nathan Davidson played 12 good minutes for the Eagles hitting both of his shots and grabbing 5 boards as well.  When the buzzer sounded, the game was tied and headed for overtime.

The overtime period went well for the Eagles as they had a three point lead with little time remaining.  Then, Kansas Christian nailed a three pointer to tie the game and send the contest into a second extra period.  Again, the Eagles hang tough, hitting tough free throws down the wire.  With time beginning to descend again and the score tied, Darwin James connected from three point range for Kansas Christian and the Eagles lost the contest 90-87.  It was a fun game for the fans to watch and hard for the Eagles to stomach after playing Kansas Christian so well.  Hats off to both teams for a hard  fought game.

The Eagles had two people with a double double:  Glidewell had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Eagles will Reeves contributed 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Steven Horan added 18 points, Caleb Postma scored 14, and Davidson had a solid game at center with 6 points and 10 rebounds.

The next game for the Eagles is Thursday night, Dec. 8, at 7:00, at Pollard Fieldhouse. Come out and support the Eagles or watch on the Live Stream on the website.
