Emmaus defeats Fairhaven

The Emmaus Eagles took on Fairhaven Baptist College from Indiana on Friday November 10th and put up some astounding numbers in a 136-22 blowout victory.  The Eagles came out in a full court press that resulted in numerous Fairhaven turnovers that were quickly turned into baskets.  The Eagles forced 35 first half turnovers in taking a 83-17 lead into the half.  Emmaus dropped out of its press 10 minutes into the game and then play half court man to man defense the rest of the way.  Everyone on the Emmaus bench played in the first half and all but one Eagle had scored by the break.  

In the second half the Eagles played excellent half court defense allowing only one made basket by Fairhaven and a total of 5 second half points.  Offensively the Eagles continued to play well putting up an additional 53 points while playing under control.  Emmaus shot 63.5% from the field overall going 56 of 88 and 41.7% from the three point line hitting 10 of 24 shots.  Seven Eagles scored in double figures led by freshmen Nacio Dillard and Brandon Redding who each had 22 points on the night.  Dillard hit a blazing 75% from the three point line on 6 of 8 behind the arc.  Redding hit 10 of 13 field goal attempts and also led the team in rebounds with 9 boards.  Other Eagles in double figures in scoring were Caleb Postma, Josh Davidson, Caleb Williams, Skyler Snook, and Steven Horan.  Freshmen Jimmy Nguyen and senior Matthew Tomlinson both had double figure assist totals with Nguyen getting 11 and Tomlinson 10.  The Eagles had an amazing 45 assists on 56 baskets.

Coach Steve Edmondson said, "This was a good game to help our guys regain some confidence coming off a tough loss at Judson.  I was very pleased with the unselfish of our team as reflected in the assist totals.  I was also very pleased with the way our guys stayed disciplined in their play despite having such a big lead.  We used the second half to work on getting better at different aspects of the game.  It was fun to have so many guys have a chance to contribute tonight."
