Emmaus Men’s Soccer: Thank you, Coach Block

After serving the past two years as head coach for the men's soccer program, Dan Block has announced his resignation from his coaching role.

Coach Block steps away after having led the Eagles to their historic first regular season and conference tournament title in 2018, followed by 3rd place finishes in the regular season and conference tournament of the Midwest Christian Collegiate Conference in 2019.

Emmaus's four Men's Soccer Head Coaches In addition, Dan Block's tenure featured a number of individual awards and recognition:

  • 1 NCCAA North Region Coach of the Year Award
  • 2 NCCAA North All-Region Players
  • 2 MCCC Conference MVPs
  • 8 All-Conference Players (1st and 2nd team)
  • 8 NCCAA Scholar-Athletes (Juniors and Seniors, 3.4+ GPA)

Coach Block continued a trajectory for the men's soccer program, where the Lord was honored and represented in how the team played on the field and how the players' carried themselves off the field.  His desire for the players in the program was simple:

  • Honor the Lord in everything you do
  • Get better every day
  • Play with poise and confidence
  • Put other's needs ahead of your own

"I would like to thank Dan for his work and service to the men's soccer players over the past 2 years. It was a pleasure to work alongside of him this Fall, and to watch his team compete with determination this season.  We pray that God will continue to use Dan and his family for His glory and purposes."

Coach Block will remain active in the Dubuque community, as well as in soccer, serving as the head varsity boys' coach for the upcoming Spring 2020 season at Wahlert Catholic High School.

Emmaus Bible College will announce Coach Block's successor next Monday in a release at EmmausAthletics.com.
