De La Garza Inks with Emmaus

Ashia De La Garza of PSJA North Early College High School in San Juan, Texas has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Emmaus Bible College. Coach Graw had this to say, "Ashia will add quickness, scoring, and outside shooting to our guard play next season. She is great at seeing the floor and is a fierce defender as well. What excites me most about Ashia is that she is humble, hungry, and wants to work." De La Garza averaged 12 PPG on 37% shooting from the field, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals her senior year at PSJA. She had this to say, "I decided to attend Emmaus after visiting several colleges and realizing that Emmaus was everything I was looking for: from the small student to teacher ratio to being located in a smaller city. I have been blessed with this amazing opportunity to play at the next level. Finally, and most importantly, the fact that the students and staff share my same beliefs and Christian values is why I knew Emmaus was the perfect fit for me."

 

Ashia is a leader in her youth group, 4.0 student/athlete, was named to 2nd Team All-District (31-6A), 3rd Team All Valley voted on by the Rio Grand Valley Coaches Association, and was selected to play in the East vs West Senior All Star game.
