Lady Bears Too Much for Lady Eagles

MANHATTAN, KS – Emmaus fell against Barclay College in a neutral site match by a score of 1-3.  The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 9-7 (4-4 MCCC).

Sets one and two found Emmaus playing flat, and Barclay was able to capitalize and take a 2-0 lead with scores of 18-25 and 25-27.  The Lady Eagles found some momentum with an early run in set three, and were able to maintain the lead to close the set 25-16.  The Lady Bears found their stride again in set four and finished the match with an 18-25 victory.

"We struggled with blocking yesterday and it really hurt us again today," commented Coach Pitman.  "Barclay has some tall hitters and they were able to pick apart our defense with their strong play at the net.  I thought we could have performed better, but Barclay played a great match and deserved the victory."

Alli Howard again led the Lady Eagles on offense with 12 kills, with Savannah Petersen contributing 7.

The Lady Eagles have another busy week as they face NAIA opponent Clarke University in an exhibition match on Wednesday, followed by a road trip to Missouri next weekend for their final two conference matches before the MCCC tournament.
