Lady Eagles Fall to Arlington in Hard Fought Match

Lady Eagles Fall to Arlington in Hard Fought Match

JOPLIN, MO – Emmaus put forth a fantastic effort in their final pool play match of the ACCA National Tournament, but fell to Arlington Baptist (Arlington, TX) by a score of 1-3.

The Lady Eagles again stuck to their plan of ball control, and forced the Lady Patriots into a lot of out of system play in the first set.  Emmaus came away with a 25-20 victory.

Arlington responded in the rest of the match with play that showed their current national ranking (#6 in the NCCAA), as they used their height advantage at the net to out hit the Lady Eagles and took the next three sets (18-25, 14-25, 17-25).

"Taking a set from Arlington was no small feat for us, and the ladies should be proud of their effort today.  We had very low error counts in all four sets, which means Arlington had to put balls down on the floor to win – and that is how we wanted to play against them," commented Coach Pitman.  "We gave our all and I am very proud of how we never gave up.

"Emmaus punched their ticket to the semi-finals with the victory over Calvary yesterday, and will finish second in Pool B with the loss to Arlington.  The Lady Eagles will face the winner of Pool A (TBD) tomorrow at 12:45 pm.
