Halfway There

ANKENY, IA – The Lady Eagles closed out the first half of their regular season schedule on the last day of September with a win at Faith Baptist Bible College by a score of 3-2.

It was a scrappy and scattered contest, with Faith winning sets one and three, and Emmaus taking sets two, four, and five.  Coming off some solid play in their last contest, the Lady Eagles were hopeful to continue the trend in Ankeny, but miscues and errors were costly throughout the night.

"This was an 'ugly' win, and we know that we can perform better than we did tonight," commented Coach Pitman.  "We are accountable for things we can control, and we need to do a better job of making good decisions and being on point with our communication.  On the positive side, we increased our hitting percentage as a team, matched our opponents in the blocking game, and kept our heads up.  I appreciated our never give up attitude in this match.  Sometimes when you don't have your best play you need to rely on grit, and we certainly showed that this evening."

The Lady Eagles sit at 6-4 on the season, and now turn their sites to a busy October.  Emmaus takes the court on Saturday at home against two teams that are playing some very good ball as of late.  The Lady Eagles will play Calvary University (MCCC, NCCAA DII) on Saturday morning, with an afternoon match against the Lady Archers of Moody Bible Institute (NCCAA DII).  Match times are 11:00 am and 3:00 pm in the Pollard Fieldhouse.
