Emmaus Announces NEW Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Programs

DUBUQUE, IA – Emmaus Athletics has announced the launch of a new Men's and Women's Cross Country program that will begin competing in Fall 2021.  With the support of the Emmaus Cabinet, the Athletic Department has begun the process of building both a men's and women's program.

"We are thrilled to be expanding our athletic program offerings, and to provide current and future Emmaus Eagles athletes the opportunity to run for the glory of God," exclaimed athletic director Chris McHugh.

"Our athletic programs are about integrating the Christ-centered focus and biblical teaching that our students receive in the classroom, and bringing those same elements into our team environments.  I look forward to seeing our new runners do just that next year!"

Vice President and Dean for Student Life, Israel Chavez, added, "The Emmaus Administration is excited to announce this new addition of Men's and Women's Cross Country.  We know that there are current and future students who would love to run for Emmaus, and as a college we're looking forward to supporting them and cheering them on!"

The Emmaus Eagles Cross Country teams will compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II (NCCAA DII), which hosts an annual national championship meet in early November.

Future Emmaus runners will find the Emmaus campus, City of Dubuque, and Dubuque County to feature varied terrain and trails that will make for exceptional training opportunities.  Additionally, autumn running in the Midwest provides scenic views with beautiful foliage and ideal training temperatures throughout the fall.

Emmaus Athletics will be announcing the appointment of the first-ever Emmaus Cross Country head coach on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.
