Coming Out Flat Against PNC

Dubuque, IA - The Emmaus Eagles' men's basketball team hosted Purdue North Central on Tuesday night. Due to internal team matters, the starting lineup had to be changed several times and it showed as Purdue started on an 11-2 run before Coach Wilkerson was forced to call an early time out. It was to no avail as Emmaus started out flat and continued that throughout the entire first half. Heading into the locker room down by 24, Coach Wilkerson encouraged his team to forget the last 20 minutes and come out ready to play a strong second half.

Unfortunately, the fire and drive was not inside most of the team as they came out flat again and looked lost on both offense and defense. When the whistle blew to end the game, the score rested at 107-56. "I believe a reality set in for all of us tonight and that is, in order for us to compete with a team of that level, we must be dedicated and disciplined from the start and not take any plays off." Coach Wilkerson said. "I was disappointed in the fact that we did not play as a team for the majority of the game, which is why we started the year off so strong. Coach Joel Smith summed it up with these words: "Tonight was a good opportunity for our guys to see what real college basketball was."

The Eagles look to get back to their winning ways as they face off on December 9th in another home game. This time facing off against Trinity International.
