Silver Lake Downs the Eagles

Silver Lake Downs the Eagles

On Thursday night, Nov. 17, the Emmaus men began their 2nd game of the week at the Pollard Fieldhouse against Silver Lake.  The NAIA school came into the game hungry for a win and at the end of the day, they weren't to be denied.

The first half for the Eagles saw Steve Horan ring up 19 points to push the Eagles out in front.  Horan had help from Caleb Postma hitting three 3 pointers as he kept up his hot shooting from beyond the arc.  However, the Eagles center, Nathan Davidson, picked up his third foul in the first half and that hurt the Eagles who were still playing without starting power forward, Nathaniel Glidewell, who sat out the game due to shin splints.  Nonetheless, the Eagles scored a last second basket to enter halftime up 43-38.

In the second half, the Eagles battled hard to get their second win in a row.  Cody Cunard led the second half scoring with 14 points while Elijah Reeves added 7 rebounds with his unrelenting hustle. But Silver Lake kept coming and eventually pulled out the win 85-76.

Leading the way for the Eagles were Horan and Cunard as the duo contributed 27 and 23 points respectively.  Reeves and Davidson rebounded well under the basket as Reeves had 11 and Davidson gathered 10.

Despite the loss, the Eagles played their NAIA opponent tough and would face another one the very next night in Chicago, at Moody Bible Institute's Big Four Classic.
