Eagles Fall to Dayspring in the Moody Classic

Eagles Fall to Dayspring in the Moody Classic

The Emmaus Eagles suited up on Saturday, 11-19-16, for their fourth game of the week against Dayspring in the Moody Big Four Classic in Chicago.  Unfortunately for the Eagles, the game would resemble other recent games in which a hard fought effort would come up short.

The first half started well enough for the Eagles as they raced to the early lead.  Steve Horan's 14 points in the first stanza helped the Eagles surge in front.  But then on a drive to the basket, Horan sprained his ankle and had to be helped off the floor.  The Eagles' leader would be sorely missed even though the Eagles led at the break 50-36.

As has become commonplace for the Eagles, the second half didn't have the same results as the first half.  Dayspring came roaring back from the halftime deficit with a terrific finish to secure a 77-73 victory, avenging their loss earlier in the season to the Eagles.

Cody Cunard gamely contributed 16 points to lead the Eagles while Elijah Reeves finished with a double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Nathan Davidson also had 10 rebounds and Matthew Tomlinson chipped in 11 points.

Next up for the Eagles will be their first conference game of the season, Tuesday, Nov. 29, at home against Faith.  Come out to support the Eagles.
