Eagles Win Second Conference Game

The Emmaus Men played their second game of their Missouri trip by taking on Calvary University in Kansas City on Saturday afternoon on January 21.  When the buzzer sounded, the Eagles had escaped with another exciting finish with an 80-77 victory.

Unlike the previous game, the Eagles scored some first half points as the other team was scoring as well.  In fact, the Eagles finished the first half going into the locker room with a ten point lead, 42-32.  Cody Cunard led the Eagles in scoring at the break with 12 first half points to go along with 6 rebounds.  Matthew Tomlinson had 9 points and Elijah Reeves had 7 rebounds.

The goal of the Eagles coming into the second half was to start off strong.  Well, despite their efforts, Calvary scored the first 8 points of the half to force the Eagles into a timeout.  The Eagles couldn't get away from Calvary.

With the game tied and 32 seconds on the clock, the Eagles had the ball and let the clock go down to 10 seconds before calling a timeout.  Steven Horan then drained a three pointer that gave the Eagles a three point lead with around 3 seconds on the clock.  Calvary failed to score however and the Eagles had escaped with another exciting victory, improving their conference record to 2-3.

Four players scored in double figures for the Eagles:  Horan had 21, Cunard had 17, Tomlinson had 15 and Reeves had 10, to go along with 11 rebounds, including 7 offensive rebounds.  Both Angelo Lott and Nathan Davidson had 4 offensive rebounds for Emmaus, giving them important extra possessions
