Emmaus Defeats Dayspring 86-75

Emmaus Defeats Dayspring 86-75

The Emmaus Men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season with a nearly wire-to-wire win.  The Eagles of Dayspring got off to a 4-0 lead, but then saw Emmaus go on a 16-0 run that gave the Eagles a lead they would never relinquish.  Emmaus 49-31 at the break after leading by as many as 26 points in the opening half with 26 points coming off of 18 turnovers Dayspring made against the Emmaus full court press.

In the second half Dayspring made a run at the Eagles closing to within 4 points with less than 5 minutes left.  However, Emmaus would let Dayspring no closer as point guard Caleb Postma hit six consecutive free throws down the stretch to push the lead back out to eleven at the final horn as Emmaus notched a 86-75 victory.  Postma was the leading scorer in the game with a career high 28 points followed by Steven Horan with 19, and Matthew Tomlinson with 10.  Emmaus is now 1-1 on the season with another road challenge coming up on Tuesday at Judson University.
