Emmaus Adds Assistant AD/Head Men’s Basketball Position

DUBUQUE, Ia. -- The Emmaus Bible College administration has announced the creation of a new full-time position, Assistant Athletic Director / Head Men's Basketball Coach, within the athletic department.

The position demonstrates a strategic investment into athletics designed to support the overall mission of the Emmaus Bible College and the student-athlete experience.

Emmaus Men's Basketball will return a nucleus of first and second-year players, who earned the program's first-ever NCCAA Regional Championship and National Tournament appearance in 2021-22.

"The initiative to resource the athletic department with this position aligns with our goals to support our current student-athletes, along with recruiting and retaining missionally-aligned student-athletes into the future," expressed Vice President of Student Life, Israel Chavez.

"Full-time coaches provide the opportunity for greater engagement in the day-to-day campus experience, and have the opportunity to collaborate regularly with faculty and staff.  In addition, they are positioned to strategically plan for long-term goals that align with the broader objectives of Emmaus Bible College."

Athletic Director Chris McHugh added, "I am excited to on-board another 'team member' to the position of Assistant Athletic Director / Head Men's Basketball Coach.

"We are trusting the Lord and asking Him for wisdom, as we seek to identify an athletically-qualified, administratively-gifted, and ministry-minded coach to carry forward our men's basketball program and partner with us in new athletic initiatives."

Moving Forward

During this transition, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach Matthew Tomlinson will lead the program and serve as the point person for recruitment and the on-boarding of freshmen and transfer student-athletes, until the appointment of a head coach.

Emmaus is accepting applications for the position.  A complete job description and application requirements can be found at https://www.emmaus.edu/careers.
