Parker Named Assistant AD & Head Men’s Basketball Coach

DUBUQUE, Ia. -- Emmaus Bible College Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Philip Parker to the role of Assistant Athletic Director / Head Men's Basketball Coach.

Parker's appointment fills a position designed to continue positive momentum in the men's basketball program and to enhance the student-athlete experience, while supporting the overall mission of Emmaus Bible College.

"It's a pure honor to be entrusted with this position. Tasha and I are ecstatic to be joining the Emmaus community and be a part of the incredible things God is doing there," stated Parker.

Athletic Director, Chris McHugh, expressed confidence in Coach Parker's ability to implement the Emmaus Athletics mission "to develop leaders and disciples of Jesus Christ, through the pursuit of competitive excellence, in order to impact the world for Christ."

"We are excited to welcome Philip and his wife, Tasha, to Emmaus Bible College! Throughout our hiring process, the search committee and I appreciated their commitment to the Lord, to discipleship through athletics, and to investing in the Emmaus Experience for all of our students," shared McHugh.

Philip and Tasha are graduates of Calvary University, where they competed with the men's basketball and women's volleyball programs.  Coach Parker earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Management, while serving as assistant men's basketball coach, along with responsibilities in athletic recruiting and sports information.  Most recently, Coach Parker was the first-ever head men's basketball coach at Spurgeon College, where he helped launch athletics in 2019-20.

Coach Parker arrives to lead the Emmaus Men's Basketball team following their historic 2021-22 campaign, which saw the program reach its first-ever NCCAA National Tournament and finish the year ranked #10 nationally.

"This program is special," shared Coach Paker.  "The work that Coach Graw and assistant coaches Matthew Tomlinson and Eric West have done on and off the court to bring the team to this point is truly extraordinary.  The foundation has been laid, now we have to continue to build.  With a core of returning players, and promising incoming talent, there is a bright future ahead for this team and I'm privileged to be a part of it."

McHugh continued, "Philip's previous experiences as a bible-college student, assistant coach, and head coach within the MCCC and NCCAA DII, gives him great perspective for mentoring and leading our men's basketball players on and off the court. I'm looking forward to working with him and our team this year."

Join us in welcoming Head Coach Philip Parker and Tasha to the Emmaus Bible College Family!
