Eagle Clash

Eagle Clash

Ankeny, IA - September 26, 2023

In a closely contested encounter, Emmaus Bible College faced off against the Faith Baptist Bible College Eagles, and despite a spirited effort from Emmaus, they ultimately fell short, losing 2-1.

Faith Baptist got off to an early lead with a goal from Grant Busenitz in the 8th minute, exploiting a well-executed give-and-go within the Eagles' box. Emmaus, however, responded swiftly, leveling the score in the 13th minute with an outstanding free-kick from Bennett Kreiner. Kreiner's bending strike found the upper 90, showcasing his precision and skill.

The balance was short-lived as Faith regained the lead in the 29th minute with a goal from Chris Barnette. Despite falling behind, Emmaus displayed resilience throughout the second half, making a concerted push to draw even in the final 10 minutes.

In a strategic move, Emmaus shifted Tucker Kapas up to forward, with Eli Dromarsky stepping into the goalkeeper position for the closing minutes. Despite pushing into the Faith box and creating opportunities, Emmaus couldn't find the equalizing goal, ultimately concluding the match with a 2-1 defeat.

Emmaus head coach Chris McHugh commended the team after the game sharing, "Our team followed our game plan really well, and we made a push for it at the end. A draw would have been a good result today, but we'll keep working and hope to do better against Faith later this season."
