In a thrilling rematch against the Spurgeon College Knights, Emmaus Bible College mounted a strong comeback to secure a 2-2 draw on a special occasion — Family and Alumni Weekend at Emmaus Bible College.

Spurgeon College started strong, with James Nkwanda scoring an individual effort in the 9th minute to give the Knights an early lead. Carrying a 1-0 advantage into halftime, Spurgeon extended their lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute when Nkwanda found the net once again.

However, in a reversal of fortunes from their previous encounter, Emmaus responded emphatically. Cristian Anderson led the comeback, tallying on a through ball in the 57th minute, courtesy of a well-placed feed from John Chuyma. Anderson continued his scoring exploits in the 67th minute, leveling the score at 2-2 following a well played long ball over the top from Bennett Kreiner.

Despite both teams pushing for the win, the match ended in a 2-2 draw, marking an even and competitive encounter. The result brought the all-time series between Emmaus and Spurgeon to a balanced 1-1-1 through three games.

Chris McHugh, Emmaus head coach, shared his thoughts on the comeback effort, stating, "Well, that was an important comeback and effort from our guys. We had a great crowd today and lots of support from our parents and alumni, so it was good to get a result. Playing Spurgeon has proven to be an even, competitive match, and we wish them well for the remainder of their season."

Next up: Emmaus hosts Manhattan Christian College on Friday, October 6 at 4pm.
