Dubuque, IA – October 8, 2024 – The Emmaus men's soccer team triumphed 1-0 against Maranatha Baptist University, improving their record to 8-2-1. The match remained scoreless with tight defense and ball control throughout, until the 56th minute when Jake Matte netted the game's only goal.

The last time Emmaus did not shut out the opponent was actually against Maranatha back on September 10th in a 2-2 draw.
When asked to recap the match, Coach McHugh shared, "Our players were very resilient today. Maranatha is a good team and they put us in some difficult moments in both halves, but I am really proud of the way that we came through the different periods of the match. Our game picked up in the 2nd half, and Jake converted a big-time finish early in the half. From there, we really managed the game very well and competed for every ball until the end, which got us to the finish line."
Up Next: Emmaus will play on the road against Great Lakes Christian College on October 11th at 1:00 PM and again on the following day October 12th at 11:00 AM vs Grace Christian University.
