Eagles Finish Regular Season with Hard-Fought Draw vs. Barclay

Ankeny, IA – October 26, 2024 – The Emmaus soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Barclay College on Saturday.

Carlos Ventura-Magallon opened the scoring early in the first half, assisted by Josh Matte. Barclay equalized just before halftime making the score 1-1. Also just before halftime, a Barclay player was given a red card for kicking Evan Shiels in the head on a failed Bicycle kick, knocking Barclay down to 10 players for the rest of the game. Evan is still recovering, but he is doing okay.

The Second Half was scoreless for both teams, and despite being outshot 24 to 6, Emmaus made the most of their opportunities and goalkeeper Tucker Kapas made nine crucial saves to preserve the tie.

Up Next: Emmaus will head to Joplin, MO, on Friday, November 1, where they will play in the Conference Tournament, with their first game being against Manhattan Christian College.
