Dubuque, IA -- Tucker Kapas, the two-year starting goalkeeper for the Emmaus Eagles, has been named 2nd Team All-American for NCCAA Division II Men's Soccer in 2024. With the recent announcement of the full 2024 NCCAA DII Men's Soccer All-American Award winners, Kapas becomes the first ever Emmaus soccer player to be recognized on the All-American team.
In 2024, Kapas anchored a defensive unit that ranked 4th nationally in goals against average per game, and helped the Eagles reach 10 wins in a season for the first-time while competing in the NCCAA DII.
Individually, Kapas was recognized as the NCCAA Men's Soccer "Student-Athlete of the Week" during Week 2 of the season, and Kapas featured prominently in the Top 10 individual goalkeeper statistics nationally:
- 1st - Save %
- 2nd - Ttotal shutouts
- 4th - Saves/game
- 5th - Goals against average
"Tucker had an outstanding season for us in 2024!" exclaimed head coach Chris McHugh. "We're excited and proud of him for being recognized as an All-American! He consistently came up with big saves for our team, with many saves coming on challenging shots that would certainly have been goals-scored for the opposition against most other goalkeepers. His instincts and shot-stopping abiblity kept us in games all year, and those skills give us a foundation for continuing to build our team these next 2 years!
"I'm thankful that the Lord brought him to Emmaus, and we're looking forward to seeing him grow and mature as a player and leader for us in the future!"
