Men's XC finishes 2nd & National Runner-Up

Warsaw, IN -- It was a great day for the Emmaus University Men's Cross Country team as they traveled to Warsaw, IN to compete at the NCCAA DII National Meet. The team was met with great competition, great conditions, and stepped up to the occasion with most runners achieving a season's best or personal record (PR) times.

The Emmaus Eagles ran hard and fast, and finished the raceday as 2nd on the podium and as the National Runner-up!

The Emmaus men were led by Matthew Hanselman, who came in at 28:39, which was good for a PR. Hanselman's 10th place finish earned him NCCAA DII All-American status, and he became the first runner in Emmaus history to earn such an award.

Not far behind Hanselman was Benjamin Driscoll, who finished with a time of 28:44. Sam Stapley crossed the line next with a 30:15, followed by Caleb Ness at 30:44 (PR), Christian Vanderkrol at 31:01 (PR), and Daniel Schult with a big PR at 31:30.

"Today was a huge day for the Emmaus Men's Cross Country program, and all a part of our plan!" shared head coach Jeremiah Gerardy. "Coming into the season, I knew a 2nd place finish was possible, so it was great to see the men run to their potential today. A major highlight was all 6 of our guys running faster than the time of our best time from last year's 2023 national meet. There is strong upward momentum with this team, as most of them are returning again next season!"

Congratulations to the Men's Cross Country team on a fantastic nationals meet and Fall 2024 season!
