Strong until Devastation

Dubuque, IA -  On a cold winter afternoon in the Pollard field house, the Lady Eagles (1-2) took on the Ozark Christian Ambassadors (1-9). Ozark, with quite a bit of game experience under their belt, showed great poise to begin the game.  On the other side, our Emmaus Eagles were a bit nervous and uncomfortable, which is typical for young and inexperienced teams. Even so, the Lady Eagles' defense was more than superb, which led to a 4 point lead around the 8 minute mark. While the offense seemed to be stagnate on most occasions, there were signs of perfect execution on multiple possessions. The game went back and forth with the Lady Eagles competing on every play. The score was close and the fans excited, but then devastation occurred.  Madison Laib and Sharon Tomlinson both accrued 3 fouls around the 12 minute mark of the 1st half, forcing Coach Graw to send them both to the bench. At that point, Ozark capitalized by scoring 24 points in 8 minutes. The Lady Eagles never recovered.

The encouragement for the team is summed up in Coach Graw's statement after the game. "What we can take from this game is that we now know when we execute the game plan and do the right things, we can compete successfully against the teams in our conference."

Madison Laib led the way with 21 points followed by Erin Edmondson's 12. Laib leads the conference in scoring at 25 ppg.
