Thiessen Inks with Emmaus

Morgan Thiessen joins the Emmaus Lady Eagles Volleyball team for the 2018-2019 season

WINNIPEG, MB – The Emmaus Lady Eagles roster gained more depth today with the addition of north of the border recruit Morgan Thiessen.

Thiessen, a 5'7 setter, played her high school ball for the Broncos of J.H. Bruns Collegiate.  She was the varsity captain for three seasons, was an SCAC All-Star setter her senior year, and was named athlete of the month twice.  Morgan spent her club seasons with Storm (University of Manitoba Junior Bisons).  Her U17 team won the Manitoba Provincial Championships in 2017, and finished in 11th place at the Canadian National Championships.  Thiessen also trained with Elite Performance, where she was athlete of the month in September of 2017.

"Morgan is going to help fill a very important role as we look to the future of our program," commented Coach Pitman.  "She is a very dedicated to her position and the sport, and we are excited to see how we can implement her talent during this season and beyond."

"Leaving home to continue my education at Emmaus was an exciting decision I made – all roads kept leading me to Emmaus," said Morgan.  "After visiting the campus, I knew this is where I wanted to start my college experience."

"Playing college volleyball was always a dream of mine," Thiessen continued.  "Emmaus is giving me the opportunity to pursue that dream and to continue playing the sport I love.  I am excited to enter this new stage of life both on and off the court."

Morgan is the daughter of Doug and Bobbi Thiessen, and plans to major in Elementary Education at Emmaus.  Her cousin Matthew Thiessen will also live in Dubuque this fall; Matthew was recently drafted by the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL.
