Emmaus Triumphs on the Road

ELGIN, IL – The Lady Eagles returned home from Elgin with a 3-0 sweep of the Lady Spartans (Elgin Community College, NJCAA DIII).

Although they were outmatched with some large attackers on the other side of the net, Emmaus was able to maintain strong leads in sets one and two by playing good defense and attacking accurately, and closed them out with by scores of 25-14 and 25-18.  Set three saw the Lady Eagles fight through some strong service and attacking runs by Elgin, but with the score knotted at 26 Emmaus put down two resounding kills to end the match (28-26).

"We played some great ball for 80% of the match tonight," said Coach Pitman.  "We had some mental lapses in the third set, but I am proud of us for fighting through it and continuing to stay aggressive when the score was tight.  We had great contributions from everyone on the floor this evening."

Emmaus will play their last regular season game on Saturday.  The Lady Eagles will face off with Maranatha Baptist University at home.  First serve is at 2:00 pm in the Pollard Fieldhouse.
