Lady Eagles Drop Opening MCCC Matches

Lady Eagles Drop Opening MCCC Matches

KANSAS CITY, MO - Emmaus went 0-2 at the Midwest Christian College Conference Classic, dropping matches against Manhattan Christian and Barclay College. Both games were decided by a 0-3 score.

In Friday night's match, the Lady Eagles would put forward a new "emergency" rotation against the firepower of the Lady Thunder from Manhattan. Although Manhattan controlled the pacing of the match and were not threatened on the scoreboard, Emmaus played with aggression and confidence in the match, and maintained a high level of unity.

Saturday pitted Emmaus against the Bears of Barclay. The match was tighter than the previous evening's, as the Lady Eagles were able to string together more runs on the scoreboard. Even with their second loss on the weekend, the team remained positive and encouraged with their progress.

"We experienced a lot of learning this weekend," commented Coach Pitman. "We knew we were going to have adversity both with the strength of opponents and with our injury situation going into the matches, and we welcomed it as a team. Hard times will serve to make us better as we work towards the end of the season. Coach Hannah and I are very proud of how our team handled themselves and the successes we saw outside of the scoreboard. We are excited to keep growing and see this team reach their potential - and we appreciated everyone's flexibility and good attitudes this weekend!"

The Lady Eagles are very excited to have their first home matches of the season this week. Emmaus will take on Dayspring Bible College on Friday (6:30 pm) in an exhibition match, followed by a matchup with NCAA DIII opponent Finlandia University on Saturday (2:00 pm).
