Lady Eagles Continue to Grow

DUBUQUE, IA - Despite a valiant effort on their home court, the Lady Eagles fell to Grace Christian and Ellsworth Community College on Saturday.

The first match saw Grace come out with fire from the service line, and cold serve receive put Emmaus in a hole that they were unable to recover from.  Grace controlled the tempo of the match, handing the Lady Eagles a 0-3 loss.

In the second match of the day, Emmaus was able to perform better with receptions, playing fairly evenly with Ellsworth for most of the first two sets.  Set three saw some very inspired play as the Lady Eagles were able to seal a victory on a large kill from Nellie Hopkins.  The Lady Panthers roared back in the fourth however to end the match.

"The scoreboard isn't showing it, but we are improving every time we play together," said Coach Pitman.  "We did struggle on serve receive and serving today, but our defensive structure and effort looks much better.  As this was our first outing of the season with everyone on the roster available to play, we are hoping that we can find consistency in our rotations and push past working on them so we can hit the other areas that need improvement!"

The Lady Eagles will get their next opportunity this evening as they welcome Faith Baptist Bible College for an MCCC match.  First serve is at 6:00 pm in the Pollard Fieldhouse.
