Dubuque, IA, October 15, 2024 – The Emmaus volleyball team delivered an impressive performance, securing two decisive victories against Calvary and Faith.
In the first match against Calvary University, Emmaus showcased their strength, winning 3-1. The sets unfolded with scores of 25-27, 25-19, 25-19, and 25-21, after a tight first set, the Eagles took control. Emmaus's attack was led by standout performances from Kaitlin Rahn and Selah Gregory, who contributed 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Emmaus's performance statistics from the match highlight a strong offensive showing with a total of 42 kills and a hitting percentage of .099. Notably, the team also excelled in defense, accumulating 114 digs and 13 blocks.
In the evening match against Faith Baptist Bible College, Emmaus continued their winning streak with a score of 3-1 (19-25, 28-26, 25-18, 25-18), a very similar outcome to the first game. Selah Gregory shone once more with an impressive 23 kills, showcasing her ability to perform under pressure. Overall, the Emmaus team racked up an impressive 57 kills in the match against Faith Baptist, with a hitting percentage of .139. The strong defense continued, with 119 digs and 14 blocks.
Coach Hannah Richter had this to say about the matches: "We had two hard fought matches yesterday against two great conference teams. Our goals for both were to be disciplined on defense, focus on our attack efficiency, and at the end of the day play two really competitive games. I was really proud of how the team fought through high pressure moments and didn't back down from the grit they needed to push through to the end. It was an encouraging day for the program all around!"
